With all due respect, Rabbi Cardozo, I believe you have devoted enough of your valuable time to your quest for “spiritual clarity.”
Some of your previous statements in this series are, in my opinion, dangerously close to heresy, chas v’sholom.
May I humbly suggest that you devote more of your tremendous talents to the study of Gemara and Halachic Codes, and with the scholarship and the knowledge thus obtained, you can then transmit to your students.
I find your insight challenging and revolutionary. Martin Lipson’s comment isn’t surprising. He’s afraid and wishes to silence you using the word ‘heresy’. So many great and audacious thinkers have shaken us limited thinkers up and, in so doing, they open the door for positive growth and development. Remaining stuck is never an answer. We have serious problems to solve; problems that will affect Israel as a state and thousands of her inhabitants. Old thinking patterns cannot address these. Risk and venturing into new vistas means we are still alive!
Dear Michelle:
If you like Rabbi Cardozo’s “challenging and revolutionary” insights, you will positively love the insights of Rabbi David Hartman whose hashkafah is available by “googling” the Sholom Hartman Institute. However, please be aware that his Rebbe, the Rav,- Rav Joseph B. Soloveitchik zt”l, “disowned” Hartman for some of his extreme writings and teachings.
